Hail traveler and well met, I come with more tl;dr-y questions. GASP, it is neither Halloween nor World Series related.
So, family. Who does your character consider their family? How are their relations with said family? Are their biological family and self-identified family the same? What are their feelings on starting a family of their own?

Kiryu lost his immediate family (mom, dad, baby brother) in Zero Reverse. He lived with an uncle until he was ten-ish, when said uncle died. And then he was on his own!
He considers a lot of people close enough to basically be family, though. Back home he has Yuusei, Jack, and Crow. In the City he has Alastair and Bakura (and Saitou, Saitou will always be family).
Tom: his mother fell in love with a Muggle, fed him a love potion, got pregnant with Tom, stopped giving the father love potion (who then left), and ended up dying about an hour after Tom was born. Sixteen years later, Tom tracked down his Muggle father, killed him and his parents, and then framed his uncle for the murders. His uncle died in Azkaban. His mother's father also died because of Azkaban.
So Tom has no family and he much prefers it that way. His family was nothing but disappointment after disappointment. Voldemort did say in book four the Death Eaters are his "family," but I'm pretty sure he was just being dramatic. He has no desire to be close to other people like that.
