3 is sooooooooooo OHMYFUCK. Just look at the lighting and how it really makes Cary look like the "golden boy." Digging the darknes on the left vs. the whiteness on the right. This entire show is actually full of such morally gray characters that it's perfect for a batch focused on lighting techniques and B/W! 5 looove the shadow in Peter's face. Again, it's very appropriate for a man who has a very dark side to him when it omes to politics but also has a lighter side where his kids are involved cuz he's a respectable dad. I fuckin' DIE for the txt of 6. It actually looks straight out of a newspaper!!!!!!!!! I find 10 so intriguing cuz Kalinda's the darker personality yet she's got so much light in her face while Alicia's very shadowed even though she's the really forthright and more "innocent" of the two ladies. MY BRAIN CAN'T DEAL WITH 12. IF THE BLEND AND THE SILHOUETTE AND THE TEXT WERE MORE PERFECT, I'D DIE OF A HEART ATTACK. Also dying fo the text in 15. Just sensational, really. Adore the crop and contrast in 16, where she really looks all "saintly" and adore Cary's face cropped out of 19 even tough he has the cutest little (smug) mug ever.
GOOD GRIEF, WHAT A COMMENT. I don't even know what to saaaaay. Thank you Kim!!! Your kind words mean a lot! (though I sadly can't take credit for the newspaper text, that's from a promo image xD) I always love how you interpret the meaning behind the icons, because I think a lot about that stuff and it's awesome to know that other people see it! Like #10, I consciously made Alicia the more shadowed one because that cap is from just after the opening press conference in the pilot, when she's in a very ~dark place~, and Kalinda supports her and helps her out of it. And I agree with your point about how B&W is suited to this show - as soon as I knew the theme, I couldn't imagine doing it with another fandom! IDK. I'm rambling. THANK YOU, is what I'm trying to say. You rock.
(Well, even if it's not your original text, you used it perfectly!) I don't often mean to read anything into icons, but since I know this specific series and it characters, it's tough not get ideas about why this or that person is lit a certain way. The Kalinda/Alicia one has a really story to it, and I love that!
Hee, I actually had a far more intense story worked out for that Alicia/Kalinda one - sort of a fantasy pre-series AU where Alicia suspects her husband is cheating on her and calls Kalinda-the-private-investigator to find out if it's true, and then Kalinda is there to support her from the beginning, but I couldn't exactly convey that in just one icon :P
