the moon was perfect tonight. just the sort of night i'd want to head down to quiet park or drive to the beach and watch the sliver of the tiniest hint of my nighttime lover fade out of existence, probably while i attempted to drive to some place where i could adoringly watch the sink into the waves in the distance. as the fragment of powerful passion caught my eye i knew, twilights like this are rare, for any season.

there are times i miss having a car, tonight will be full of heady warm breaths of the pavement giving up it's afternoon basking into the cool flesh of night breezes caressing the random wanderer. to find oneself out of the city, amidst the local crags or further in the abutting arid hills and canyons would be the best of all nights to do it. glimpses of the moon chasing the sun out of the day are what road-trips to the stone henge replica are made of. 2am stops at multinomah falls or drives up to precipices that overlook the columbia river gorge, or car camping at climbers coulée just by the gorge at george.

i take demented lackadaisical hippie pleasure in not having a car, but in twilights like this, it's not worth it.
