metal show last night rocked. a lot.
i missed graveworm opening, last vestiges of sickness slowing me down. the absence's music is cool. crowd was *not* diggin it, but they looked a lot like amon amarth and had a similar sound-style. speed/kill/hate's music was fucking brutal and they put out a lot of energy. me and the rest of the crowd were all savin our necks for the fucking big guns thou.
i've never heard destruction, apparently they're from germany, and huge, but they make me want to drink lots and lots of really cheap ass beer. good shyte. kataklysm was fucking awesome. every bit as fucking good live as they are on mp3. unlike the absence they're beyond their garage sound and they did a positive mix of their 'northern hyperblast' style shit and only two tracks to support their new album. that's good, because it's slower and sucks because of it.
heh, security kicked me off the stairs. the moshpit is getting older and the mighty are flabbening, but we kept it going, regardless of this fat fuck who took his shirt off, didn't mosh, stood around and played air-guitar. shitbird! get out of the god damn pit! *cackle* i moshed the entire god damn way through.
vader was fucking completely god damn awesome. I don't take enough time to listen to them all that often, but i think i'll change that now. watching those polish fuckers get up there. no stage presence, look around. say nearly shit and then in .5 seconds flat the speakers are smoking and the pit is more brutal than any point earlier in the night. like every moment and every band was culminating in this brutality of death and destruction. i got back out and tore my neck a new one just outta mass respect.
i hadn't realized this was the last stop on the metal crusader's tour. we were too small of a crowd to get kataklysm to do an encore, but when vader stopped and sort of *gaged* if we were worth it, we all went nutz. i mean, it's VADER. they emerged from behind the iron curtain for fuck's sake. better than that once they left, regardless of size we chanted, thrashed and overall raised hell until they came back out... and played slayer. FUCK. YEA.
they started by moshing in unison. that's important.
