Dear Coen Brothers,
I realize you’ve made another film that is likely to win an Oscar or two this year, so I really should make it a priority to see it in the next couple of weeks. In fact, I had every intention of seeing it last night, but the screening times were such that I had to wait three hours after I got off work to go see it. The problem with this is that once I am at home, I will want to watch Star Trek, and once I’m watching Star Trek the only way I can stop is by going to sleep, and not even the promise of one of your films is going to change that. Sorry. I am a very bad ex-film-major.
Love, Steph

Totally new topic, because I swear I still do things that aren’t James T. Kirk-related: I spent my Valentine’s Day in the company of a 40-year-old Costa Rican guy I met at my pub because my friends bailed on our plans. He paid for all my drinks, we talked about roller coasters, and he gave me boy advice. It was pretty surreal/super-weird, but that’s how I roll: talking to strangers all over the damn place. It was fun, though! And free, which is the most important part! I did end up convincing him to take me to the party I was going to go to with my friends, where there is a cute bartender, but I am pretty sure I successfully made a moron of myself, as is my wont. I’m sure I’ll be back - we’re on a first name basis with the employees there because we are classy individuals.

Um um ummmm. I should have more to say but I really don’t. Tonight is Sally’s birthday so we’re going to Gordon’s Wine Bar because wine is the greatest, and tomorrow I am going to a new place called Detroit for cocktails. Oh, and then my sister’s arriving on Sunday and we’re going to have the best time of all the times!! We’re planning on hitting up Stratford-upon-Avon because she’s still never been and also is in theatre, so it’s kind of relevant. Also it’s just awesome and we can visit the mulberry tree that may or may not have been planted using seeds from another tree that may or may not have been in Shakespeare’s yard. TRUE FACTS.

I’m thinking about what I want for lunch even though I’m not that hungry, just for a lack of anything else to think about. My office window faces a brick wall which makes my brain shut off all higher functions due to lack of stimulation, I think. At least it’s sunny! I can see it gleaming through the crack between our building and the one next door! Come to meeeee, UV rays & vitamin D!
