Summer Movie Game #2: Easy As Pie Holiday Edition [#8]

Jun 30, 2009 08:04

A day early for the July game: now with more more. I've meant to do thematic games before, but it never happened, and then this turned out to not be one either; nor did I use any of the handful of caps I'd originally set aside for this (ah, the tribulations and woes of screencap gaming). A trio of quasi-related caps inspired by the upcoming holiday ( Read more... )

But all you gots is pretty good!

Yeah, I put 1776 in there especially for you. :D

5 - That actress did do a version of Cleopatra, but the cap is not from it. I don't remember Cleo bathing in the milk of asses. ;)

It's not exactly fair to include movies that haven't even been released yet.

Yeah, I know (sheepish, not bitchy). Although if I hadn't jumped the gun by posting this a day early, I'd have at least a technicality leg to stand on.

Yes, except for 15. Right country, right time, wrong nationality for the main characters.

Yay for 8! I thought I was going to have to excommunicate my flist last time for not knowing every frame of it by heart when nobody got it.

One of the big mistakes Alien 3 made was killing Newt and Michael Biehn off. Though Charles S. Dutton's "How do you want to die?" speech is awesome.

Heh, yeah, after learning about them being killed off, I decided not only was I not in hurry to ever see it, I was just going to pretend it didn't exist. So far the shield of denial approach is working pretty well. ;P

4 of 6. :)

You're too far north of the Equator for 12 (you need to go a little farther down under), and it's not a Disney film.

That is Depp in 9, but that's not Kate Winslet's leg, and he's not a fine, upstanding citizen in this one. :)

I loved some Top Gun fanvid I found once, that did the whole "Maverick in love with Goose, loses Goose, learns to love again with Ice Man" thing. It was hysterical and awesome.

1) Independence Day
4) Pommel Horse Potemkin
6) has an air of Miyazaki. Nausicaa?
10) You realize this could be any of them, right? But that looks like the SPACE DOOR so it must be Search for Spock.
11) Argh, this is driving me crazy because I know I've seen it many times.
15) Queen Margot?
18) Beach Rumble

2 for 7.

4 - closish: it does take place in (a fictional part of) Eastern Europe. It's apparently one of the most hilariously terrible movies of its decade, and now I kind of want to track it down. Speaking of terrible, did you say you finally got Tuff Turf or whatever it was in the mail?

6 - Yes, it's Miyazaki. There are a lot more details in the larger size cap than I realized, I hope taking a gander is helpful. :)

11 - I think if you ruminate on the dual nature of the dream warden, you'll find the answer is staring you in the face. ;)

18 - Consider carefully the number of military movies with a beach volleyball scene.

6) Oh I see the dog! Howl's Moving Castle.

18) oh yeah, Top Gun (which might as well be called Stratosphere Rumble). Something in the photo quality made it look like a movie from the 50s so that was throwing me off.

#3 looks so familiar but I can't place it. It's not Scarface is it?

Yes I did get Tuff Turf!

5 for 7. :)

Well, it's definitely going to be Stratosphere Rumble from now on. The only thing it needs to make it better is a dance-off.

3 - Nope, not Scarface. I have a really good alternate for it that I know you'll get. And it should look familiar; I'm about 99% positive you have this. ;)

Baby Spader!

1 - independence day
6 - howl's moving castle
9 - public enemies (that's not out yet, yo, but that's GOT to be Depp in all his hotness glory)
10 - star trek
12 - fern gully
18 - top gun

I'm dying. I feel like I *KNOW* what 4 and 17 are but I cannot name them!

5 and 3/4. Yes, but *which* Trek?

If you've seen 4, that would be awesome. Two clues: spies, gymnastics.

17 isn't Chicago, or a musical, but it is set in the '30s. And foreign.

Reading the book PE is based on, I really appreciate that the author is careful to not in anyway romanticize or glamorize Dillinger and his ilk, and as much as I am looking forward to this movie, knowing Mann, I doubt he's going to be able to resist mythologizing him. If Katie doesn't feel like going this weekend, then we can see it together as one (heh) when you get back. :)

I'm pretty sure not glamorizing it will just make them hotter. Brutal AND mythological? Hell yeah.
