On Sunday 29th March I went to see my favorite band Vast live at King Tuts in Glasgow. I've been wanting to see this band since I first got into them in 2000, when I bought music for people album. The gig was worth the wait and since it was in King Tut's Wah Wah hut, I got very close to the band as I was at the front and it's a small intimate venue. Jon Crosby's voice was on top form but I didn't know he'd put on quite a bit of weight and he looked miserable. He did manage a smile when the audience cheekily demanded one.
I love all vast songs so I loved every minute of the set and there were a couple of songs I'd not heard before. I wish I'd known about the guest passes or I would have ordered one, as I'm a member of the fan club. Just as well I'd noticed the gig in the metro paper on the bus or I would have been gutted to have missed them. They seldom come over to UK to play, last time they were in Glasgow was ten years ago. I got some plectrums as a wee keepsake , I just missed catching a drumstick and the mean security guy wouldn't pick it up for me.
Anyway I am very, very happy to have seen them.
