Ganked from curtimack

I was born in 1975 and that year, the car that was chosen the "Best car in Spain" by ABC newspaper was the Simca 1200, known elsewhere as the Simca 1100 or the Simca 1204. Yes, a car created in 1968 in France was Spain's best in 1975. Allpar has a great article about this car and its relationship with Chrysler.

My uncle Ernesto (who is also my godfather) had one in some kind of blue colour. I have to check if my mother gives me the picture taken at my uncle's house in 1978 in Clermont-Ferrand (he emigrated there and worked at the Michelin factory) where I'm with my cousin Stéphane sitting in the trunk.

Anyway. I once asked my father why he didn't buy this car instead of the Seat 850 and he said that it was too expensive. When I was a child this car looked like a luxury car compared to the one we had.

This is how it was advertised in 1975 in Spain as well, but I can't embed. Check it here.
