Yesterday I published a post in ABG about high diesel prices in Spain (thanks if you digg it) which have made truckers go on strike. After 3 days, gasoline supplies at pump stations are quite low, there are no newspapers, there is no fresh produce in shops or supermakets and even a trucker got killed yesterday when trying to stop a van which didn't want to follow the strike.

While part of this is the lack of planning from our successive governments (like the almost non-existent freight by rail), I don't have the slightest idea of what can be done. I put the finger to big oil companies but I'm sure there's more.

Today I drove to work instead of taking the train. There was little traffic. From where I live to my work, I have to take the B10 (Ronda Litoral) which is one of the city bypasses. This road communicates the port and the industrial estates nearby. Because of the high truck traffic, this road has usually lots of traffic jams. Today, only cars and an occasional van were seen, so traffic was ok and I got to to work in 25 minutes instead of the normal 35-40.
