Go Hoosiers! If only in some bizarre twist it could have been Indiana that pushed him over that last small 11 Vote hump.
Blair and I were watching the countdown to the polls closing on the West Coast, and it suddenly occurred to me, "oh, hey, y'know this might do it for him." And then the CNN Projection graphic popped up with it's exciting music and it was like, BOOM, Obama Is President!
It was exciting to wake up this morning. I hope he can rid our generation of all this cynicism we're infested with. I think if anyone can do it, it's him. He's already so iconic, and he's not even president yet! I know that no matter what happens I'll never forget where I was last night, but I hope that eight years from now it really does feel like last night was as significant as it felt. I just want him so badly to do well and to be the president he has said he will be, and it's makes me feel so nervously excited to think about him hushing all the conservative critics and just doing the job so well that nobody can really say they don't respect him.
To me this has always felt bigger than the economy, and the war, and taxes, and healthcare. If only in the fact that the choice encompassed SO MANY of these massive decisions. You can't say that "Change" doesn't mean anything when the country elects it's first African-American leader.
Today is a good day.
