green?

Lots of things going on in my head lately.

I drink about 132 oz of water a day. That is 4 liter bottles. I prefer the Smart water bottles because they are easy to hold (narrow), hold the liter, and the mouth is small. They are also usually on sale for 10 for $10. I have been keeping them about a month and refilling them, alot. Did I say alot? Did I also mention that I leave the bottles in my car sometimes?

Someone told me about the number/letter/symbols on the bottom of water bottles that indicate whether they are one use bottles or reusable. So I've been researching this, quite a bit. Apparently most water bottles are one use, meaning that reusing and definitely leaving them in heat can cause the chemicals in the bottle to break down and get into your system. Yes. Also, plastic bottles are typical made from crude oil/petroleum products. Billions of waste comes from freaking water bottles.
Not to mention what it could be doing to your body. So, thinking I'm being healthy by drinking lots of water, there is no telling what harmful things I am doing to my body.

Only bottles with the number, 2, 4, or 5 on the bottom in the triangle are reusable, yeah, good luck finding those!

I thought about buying 5 bottles a week, and just reusing them for that week, how much can that hurt, right? Thats about $5 a week, plus tax if they are on sale. $20 a month.

After researching the "green" reusable bottles, I found this nifty article that rated the top 10 reusable bottles. Nalgene bottles were on there and I have one of them, that I use for practice and sometimes at work. While I like that the mouth is big enough to fit an ice cube (or several) in, it hits my nose when I drink and I don't like that. If I drink out of it all day long, I get a tender spot on my nose. Shutup, I'm not a baby I just know what I like and don't like. Oh yeah, the review person complained about the wide mouth too!

Sigg bottles were the top rated. They are aluminum, which keeps the water COLD, but have a reusable plastic lid so you don't get a metallic taste when you drink. They also have REALLY cool designs. My favorite was "cloud dragon" but it only comes in 20 oz. and I like the liter. They are all sold out online, even online retailers, and we of course have no stores that carry them here.

I bid on one from ebay, and got it!!! I'm so excited! I did do the sneak in a bid with one minute left, that I despise when other people do, but dang, I wanted that bottle. With shipping I paid $40. $40 for a water bottle??? you say!! That water bottle is healthy for me and the environment and will pay for itself in TWO months!!! I can't wait.

I'm also getting some recycling bins and my family will be recycling paper, plastic and aluminum.

It all started with water!

I'm not a freaking hippy either.
