Ugh, I didn't take high enough, only making one final table, but my toughest opponent was probably knocked out, we'll know for sure when the points are listed.
Of course, the final table I made I should have come in higher. There was a girl who has played several times, but always has friends around her to advise what she should do with the cards. This is against the rules, but unless the dealer sees it, can't be called on (no form of cheating, as demonstrated several times tonight, can). So she knows what to do because her good friends know what to do. She wasn't paying attention when she was dealing. I had pocket queens and every intention of slow playing them. The flop comes queen nothing nothing, I make a small raise. She calls that small raise. Despite the fact that these raises are small, the pot is building with strong potential. Until she decides to just deal to the river instead of allowing the betting that should occur. I suggested we just skip the turn card betting and bet on the flop, but one of the girls is a part time dealer and says no, just flip them up, so the other girl does and I still win, but she had a good hand (low pocket pair with a flush draw after the turn) and would have called if I'd gone all in so I didn't win so much as half of what I should have. I still think that we should have called the more knowlegable dealer who was on duty tonight, but it was too late by the time the other girl flipped her cards over. This is the same girl who took me out at final table. Still getting advice from her friends until the dealer caught her, at which point she threw away pocket aces because she didn't know if they were good with only one ace on the board. I hope she never plays at our bar again.
Speaking of our bar, this is my absolute favorite bar. I love the people, the owner is great, and it's within walking distance if I ever wanted to. The owner is thinking about doing his own game, which is probably not a bad idea since most people play for the bar, not for the league, and he is giving incentives for just his bar's top players already. But if he goes on his own, without the league sponsoring regional tournaments to get into the world tour, he won't make it unless he gets a completely new staff. First, it shouldn't take 45 minutes to get a coke. When a server comes to the table, there are 8 or more people there, five of whom need her attention. But each and every server will look at the one person they came over for and completely miss all the others waving their hands and calling her name. I shouldn't say each and every. There is one server who notices everyone who needs her and fulfills their needs in as timely a manner as possible with such a large crowd. She's also the only one who makes any tips. You'd think the others would get a clue.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'm going to bed. Or talking on IM. My friend in Maui says she's got a flight to be here for my birthday. She wanted me out there, but she's hoping to come out early for Tiffany's wedding, plus about a thousand and one people wanna see her and the baby, so one ticket is cheaper than getting everyone out there at some point or another. That and I've been steadfastly avoiding the idea of going out there because I don't get along with her mother in any way shapr or form. Almost worse than Nathan's other grandmother. Almost.
