I'm sick

I went in to work this morning only because I had promised another girl a ride and we were opening, so there was nobody to call in sick to. When I arrived I told my manager, "I'm sick. I have a runny nose and a sore throat and I'm feeling all together miserable. I don't think it's a good idea for me to work with food today. Do you want me to go home?" She said that everybody had it, so not to worry and to go ahead and get started. That was fine, it was scheduled to be an easy morning, I figured that I need the money and it really wouldn't hurt anything.

I was put in the back cleaning and dropping chicken as needed instead of up front. For the most part it was easy work, lots of running around, but not much to actually do so I spent most of my time helping stock and such. I got out later than expected, but that was fine since I had taken an extra long (unpaid) break before the store opened. I went home with the intention of sleeping.

But I knew that wouldn't happen. Nathan wants me. Me and only me. I'm the only one capable of pouring his juice just right or putting his pants on him. I'm the only one who can give hugs or watch his bus zoom around. And I'm trying to keep off him to keep him from getting sick, which isn't easy once he decides he won't leave my arms for 15+ minutes.

So now, I have a fever, a sore throat, pain in my chest, runny nose, and I'm throwing up. And I can't lay down because there's too much noise or too much light or it's too hot with the window blowing cold air through or it's too quiet or it's too dark or it's too cold with the waterbed turned up and the covers wrapped around me seven times.

Think I should go in tomorrow? I'm sure the managers would not be happy if I called in and I won't even be able to use the unauhorized day off to find a job.
