Hey, Astraplain, that was me just now. I didn't notice I wasn't logged in anymore until after I'd posted. I just read your new fic...how intriguing and painful. You've once again done a masterful job of weaving the complexities of the GC characters.

Haa, I haven't been able to see any chapters since ch 13! Nekoage usually uploads them but I haven't seen anything in the past few months... Sigh, I don't know where or how to see the recent chapters (especially 15 now!)... I think I'm dying of Ray/Florian withdrawal, lol (although a new fic from you always helps to ease my craving for a bit ~ thank you)!! Help! Anyone...

I can't wait until GC: ANC is published as a whole book so I can buy it. I just got GC: LE last month. I'd been dying for it much earlier but they'd been saying for so long that it was going to released in English so I was waiting but it never happened! So I finally gave in and ordered the Japanese version - which is better, of course, but it will still take me a while to translate them. I've only been studying Japanese for six months, so while I've made a lot of progress in that time I still have to look up many word (esp. kanji which is difficult without furigana).

But anyway, at least Ray and Florian are back on the scene and hopefully I'll get to see what's going on eventually. Take care.

Thank you - I couldn't _not_ write something after chapter 15, but I didn't want to make it too spoilery.

I think Nekoage translated LE, so maybe that would help? I finally got copies and was so glad to have them.

I've been promising Mighty Maeve a essay about power dynamics in GC and just can't seem to find the time
I'm wondering about making it a group effort - would you be interested ? It would be great to see more activity
on this group.

Hmm, an essay about power dynamics in GC does sound interesting... I'd certainly like to hear more about it but I couldn't promise anything for the next few months. I'm having trouble finding time to do things myself, lol.

I've been working on translating a novel series since last October and since there are ten of them, at the rate I'm going so far I'd say except to be done in about......oh, a decade (weary sigh). And I've got to do three years worth of taxes before the deadline next month (I know, I'm so bad! But you're really only legally required to file your taxes if you owe the government money; if they owe you money (as is my case) they'd probably prefer that people NOT file.

Making it a group effort does sound like a good idea though. What do you plan to use it for?

In my head, the essay is called "Victim to Victor". The first thing I want to do is go through each of the GCs stories and note incidents of violence against and by Florian. It seems much more complex than uke syndrome. I think he and Ray will always have relationship with an edge of violence, but how they adapt to, and use that violence is what makes it interesting. Add Solomon and Azura with their power issues into the mix and it's a fascinating and dangerous combination.

Sounds like you have way too much demand on your time with translating and taxes, but I'd really like to read whatever thoughts you have time to share about GC. It could be fun if several people - or more - contributed their thoughts - it would be nice to have more perspectives on GC and the characters. I don't have any plans for the essay - it would just be nice to have some discussion, and possibly even inspire some fic. It would be lovely beyond words to have more GC fic to read.

Ooh, that does sound intriguing... I'd certainly be interested in participating in a discussion. Perhaps, to give things a little guidance to start, we could do as you suggested and start from the beginning. And anyone who has thoughts to share can feel free to jump in. Incidentally, I was just re-reading the first chapter in bed earlier. It's been a while since I've re-read GC from the beginning so it's good timing.

First incident of violence: Florian being slapped by his mother...

I haven't seen it since ch 7 T_T I missed ch 8 & 9 and the links no longer work. *heavy sigh* I wish one of the publishers like Viz or DMP (or even their guild) would pick it up.
