*sigh* The jazz world, and indeed the music world in general lost a legend today. This guy was amazing.

*nods* It was pretty amazing that he was still performing at his age. I'm so disappointed that I let every opportunity to see him in Chicago at Ravinia pass me by.

Seriously, we must have been separated at birth. I am a HUGE fan of all things jazz and Dave Brubeck was absolutely amazing. I am so sad that he passed away. The jazz world has lost an amazing star.

I think we must be!

I generally prefer saxophonists like Coltrane and Miles Davis, so I think I really dug the DBQ because Paul Desmond was such a huge influence on their sound. But Dave's time signatures just blew my mind...I'd never heard anything like it.

Unfortunately I let several opportunities to see Dave perform in Chicago pass me by. He played at Ravinia a handful of times over the past 5 years, once with Ramsey Lewis (another fave!). I'm kicking myself now.

Wow! I would have loved to have seen DBQ perform! Miles Davis is truly amazing. I got to see Chick Corea perform about a month ago. He was awesome. I was raised listening to jazz. My dad plays with a swing band and I sing with them some. I really enjoy Chris Botti's music too.
