Title: Maybe the Lunch Lady Did It
Flavor: Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Rating: PG
Count: 100
A/N: In the show Alias, CIA tech guru Marshall Flinkman sometimes had to go out in the field. In one episode he needed to remove a dead man’s eye to open a retinal scanner security measure. He ended up using a spork found in the man’s desk drawer. (Please watch the first 2 minutes of this video to see Marshall and his mighty spork.) For the purposes of this drabble, let’s pretend this incident took place in New York City….

The crime scene was a private office in an exclusive club.

“What do we have, Rodgers?” Goren asked.

“Male, mid-40s, GSW…one eye punctured by this letter opener.” Rodgers held out a bloody evidence bag. “The other eye is missing.”

Eames looked surprised. “It’s…missing?”

Rodgers nodded. “The security system is based on the victim’s retinal scan. The eye probably was removed with this.” She handed Goren a second evidence bag.

He tilted his head. “Is that a…?”

“Spork.” Rodgers finished. “Found in school lunchrooms all over the city.”

Eames raised an eyebrow. “Guess somebody didn’t like the meatloaf surprise.”
