Hacker Alec Hardison used to want fame. He grew up with the legends of Mitnick and Chaos, who went to prison for unleashing computer worms and hacking other hackers. They proved how clever they were.
Then he met Nate.
And Parker.
Hardison decided he didn’t want to be Chaos. He wanted to be Shimomura. He wanted to wear the white hat and ride to the rescue.
His goal shifted from fame and glory to personal satisfaction…seeing the grateful smile of some poor schlub who had been ripped off. Parker punching his arm and smiling.
Who needed fame and glory?

Anyway.
I love the wind whipping through my hair and feeling my stomach drop like I’m on a roller coaster. The weightlessness is freedom. I’d rather be floating in the air than standing on the ground.

Eventually Eliot grew weary of crushing the weak and defenseless. He wanted to wash the blood from his hands. Hooking up with Nate’s crew gave him a positive place to focus his talents, but it didn’t stop the visions of devils when he closed his eyes.

He ran from the seminary when his father’s voice couldn’t be silenced. He ran from his marriage, his son’s death, and even from the team. He used alcohol to run away from everything else.
Sooner or later, Nate thought, he’d get cut down. But until then, he’d run.
