random good stuff

Interesting stuff I'm into at the moment, in no particular order:

Half-Life 2
Wow, only had a chance to play this in multiplayer, but it's great, the physics engine works really well! nothing more satisfying than killing someone with a well aimed toilet :-)
much better than the other big named FPS PC release this year, Doom 3, which didn't run well on my kick ass laptop, not happy with a mobile graphics card or something. HL2 is much better, even at just 800x600 or whatever, will try messing with the settings soon.

Jazz
Having suddenly (and very briefly as the next entry will show) got fed up with the guitar sound present in 95% of much cd collection, decided to try something new. So far have some albums by Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Humphrey Littleton, will collect more. Every album totally different, Bitches Brew is more fucked-up than any post OK "Computer" Radiohead, A Love Supreme and Kind of Blue are very relaxing and The Best of Humphrey Littleton takes you back to the 20s, fantastic!

Weezer
Geek rock rules! Now have all albums, each great and each completely different, while sticking to the 3 minute pop song mantra. Personal favourite is Pinkerton, which is apparently Rivers Cuomo's hated record and didn't get many rave reviews.

Gaming in general
I thought living with my girlfriend might put a stop to this habit, but it's got worse!! Still to complete GTA San Andreas (also a piece of programming genius), now have Half-Life 2 for when I go to Germany, and the PSP comes out in March and I'm v v v v tempted!

WiFi
Flat's wifi network is fantastic, will test airport wifi in the near future and see how good it all is.

LINUX
Linux is fantastic, if only all games worked on it I'd probably dump Windows.

iPod
Despite mine being old already, I still love it! Though I'll never buy a download from iTunes, I have a good hifi and I want CDs to take advantage of it. I hope music buying doesn't go fully digital.

Living in Partick
Much better than expected, plenty of local shops, lovely warm flat and weight loss inducing walk to uni is bearable!

The new BMW Mini
Got a RC mini Mini from Jenn's parents for xmas, fantastic fun!! Now I want the real thing, a works cooper S would be nice!

Top Gear
best thing on tv by many miles, can't wait for the new series in march (so far away!!) man tv, worth paying the licence fee alone for! bring on the full dvd box set!
