hi ya'll!
Had quite the interesting weekend, starting off with Friday...
Emma and I woke up early to stand in line for what would be our last live encounter with the History Boys. After we got some smokin' hot restricted view seats for a mere 26.50, I headed off to work.. when I came home I collapsed for a nap and slept soundly until I heard a large BooOooOOOOOmmmMM! I thought it was thunder, since I had been expecting rain that day anyways. A few minutes later, Nancy came in and woke me up, telling me that there was an accident across the street.. that a crane had collapsed. Our room has the worst view EVER, so I went to Emmas to check out all the commotion. It had seemed at the time that noone had been hurt ( although it truned out that the huge chunk of the crane that had fallen crushed half of a taxi, with people in it! No one died, but I guess 5 people, including a few construction workers had been injured) I returned to my room, made lunch and considered the outfit that I'd wear for my last history boys viewing... until a fireman (ax in hand) proceeded to bang on the door, ordering everyone to evacuate. I grabbed my pocketbook quickly and headed outside where everyone was waiting.. assuming that we'd be allowed back inside within a half our...all I can say is.. thank goodness I had the tickets in my pocketbook, because we had to go directly to the show... What hah happened was that the crane had become very unstable and they were concerned that it would collapse, and if it did, that it would fall on top of Coral Towers. During the intermission of History Boys, I called Drew (because I needed to know Nancys #, as I had left my phone in the room) he asked me what I would do if I wasnt let badck in when History Boys let out.. I told him that Emma and I were probably just gonna go to my house because I was planning a trip home anyways.. which is when he told me he was in NYC!! He decided to suprise me on our 11 month anniversary! (how adorable) When we were let out of History Boys we met up with him in Union Sq and discovered that we wouldnt be allowed back in the dorm until the next day.. soo Emma, Drew and I ended up being like refugees, training back home on a 1am train..
we were homeless, it was interesting. wow ok, that doesnt sound all that interesting, reading over all that now.. but at the time it was super cool excitement!
