revisited

We stood like royalty
over dreams
moonlight polished and reaching out
like oceans
trying to embrace the world in its arms
but being pushed back by gravity

we lived in travelers time
and had the stars in our eyes,
held them there,
and let them slip away

it's a light snowy breeze
that dusts this planet with little moments of brilliance
and we were lucky enough to catch one
and hold it long enough to know

it's a moment that was never here
never there
a moment slow and deliberate
frozen in time

and when it was gone
we stood busking on empty streets
hoping
to catch a snowflake on an acoustic drift

and you were right
you said it all along
I won't forget you
it's not that I can't
why would I want to?
because, people don't last that long
