Ode to Innocence

Dec 17, 2007 09:06

You killed them,

You destroyed them,

The homes,

The families,

The children in the street,

You killed them all

In cold blood in my dream.

I awoke in a cold sweat,

Feeling homeless,

Lonely,

And my innocence gone.

In all my love,

I gave you all.

With all my heart,

I trusted your smile.

Did I deserve this?

This inverted chest,

Crushed, bleeding,

Desperate for breath.

You did not kill those

foreign children.

You stabbed my innocence,

My trust, my love for you.

Then once more like so often before,

You left me

to die in a cold room,

Leaving only the hollow,

Haunting,

Taunts of the wind

As my companion.
