NYC???
holy shit i love this place. wowwwwwww. i couldn't live here. but god i could visit here. so we went to columbia. i LOVE columbia. it's in the middle of NYC but you wouldn't know that walking around the campus. it's so pretty. and it's small. i feel like i totally would like going there too.
so yesterday we also went to times square. OMG. walking out of the subway station was soooooooo intense. the sheer number of people on the streets. it was amazing. arata came and met up with me and my fam and we walked around times square and parts of 5th avenue (not the super chic parts but it was still really cool). we also saw the United Nations Building. WHOOOOOOOOOA. cool place. i wanted to buy a UN shotglass but my mother wouldn't let me. drinking to the UN would be amazing (ashley, let's do that some time.). but they didn't have the flags up. which was sad.
TODAY WAS CHINATOWN. china town is a different world. there are shops everywhere. shops selling cheap handbags. selling food. selling every thingggggg. holy shiiiiiit. we walked in chinatown/soho/little italy? for 6 hours. SO INTENSE. it was sort of overwhelming because everywhere there were people asking you about whether you wanted to see bags or whether you wanted a watch. i'm glad to be at a place where i'm not being hassled. that and you had to bargain with everyone. my mom and sister were pros at it. you'd also be surprised how much we bonded over this haggling. i still don't like haggling for some reason. whew. the coolest/freakiest part of the day was being taken up to this sketchy apartment thing to look at knockoff bags (i didn't get any. my mom got a prada one). we didnt know where we were going. all we were told is to follow this lady. and when we got intothe place the door was shut behind us. soooooo weird. but so much fun.i got a cute small messenger bag. my sister got a billion bags and my mom got a bag too. twas al ot of funnnnnnn.
so we leave tommorrow. but not before hitting up NJ's largest outlet mall. i am PSYCHED. oh man. so excited. it will be fun.
the trip, all and all, has been a lot of fun. it's had its low points. we didn't get to see a lot of things (i.e. the statue of liberty, ellis island, central park...) but it was fun to have a week away from everything. it'll be nice to be home.
22 days till NORTHFIELD. ahhhhh. so much to do before then!!
