Reportedly, a few McDonald's stores have begun using call centers to handle orders, meaning, that the voice you order from in the drive-thru could be thousands of miles away (in Hawaii for instance) and then that person puts through your order to the people flipping the burgers a few meters away. It's supposed to save a few seconds and therefore, increase efficiency and customer service.
