Smiles.

When I'm trying to be healthy and get in shape, food should not be a reward for a job well done, right? Too bad, I couldn't help myself. For exercising three days in a row and eating relatively healthy, I rewarded myself this morning with an iced mocha (skim) and a blueberry muffin. I can also justify that reward because I am so achey all over and crampy that I moved too slowly to make breakfast for myself this morning.

Let's talk about my gym. I love it. Here are some reasons why:

1. Valet parking
2. At my second visit, the valet guy recognized me and welcomed me back.
3. The pool is heated so there's never the shock of being plunged into cold water.
4. Soothing music plays overhead in the pool. It's actually quite nice.
5. They provide towels and lockers free of charge.
6. In the times that I've gone, regular times for gym goers, between 6 and 8 pm, not another soul was there. I had the place to myself, the pool to myself, and I had no reason to feel self conscious.
7. Asante, my fabulously gay gym/spa employee, he greeted me with a big smile, "Haaaaaay gorgeous! Comin' to work out?"

And I do believe being greeted as "gorgeous" would make any lady feel pretty good about coming to work out.

Speaking of fabulous gays, I really do love that this city is full of them. They aren't afraid to be exactly who they are. My barista this morning, he was wearing eyeliner and flipping his long-ish hair all over the place. LOVE IT. Made ordering my muffin all that more satisfying. I think everyone should be so comfortable in their own skin.

I hope someday I can. And that's what I've been working so hard on. And I think I'm making lots of improvement. At least this week.
