The 11-week check-in

Jun 09, 2009 09:58

LJ friends, I’ve been “nudged” because it’s been 11 weeks since I had the ambition to fill out this blank. What can I say? I’m a crappy LJ blank filler-outer. Be aware, though, that I read many of the LJ entries daily.

A brief update should mention that most of my days are mostly filled with semi-fun stuff because now, with no employer, I can get away with that. For instance, most of today will be spent on a trip to the Ohio Amish Country with my wife, under the pretense of shopping for a storage building and some fence lumber. But mostly what it’s about is our getting to eat lunch in our all-time fav Amish restaurant.

Other days’ activities are planned after I get up and see what the weather’s doing, and what calls loudest. This is the first spring in the past few years I can flex like that, because we are done remodeling old houses - at least for the moment, likely forever.

We still babysit grandbaby every other week. She’s nearly five and when she’s here I stop everything and “be with” her. I never had that luxury with my own daughter or my two sons. I will not miss it with this kid. She’s sorta deja vu, having brilliant blue eyes like my daughter and many of the same aptitudes and mannerisms. Can’t miss out this time.

I also have a self-imposed regimen for writing and photography. I’ve talked myself into the totally unfounded need to stay sharp through constant practice and web publications, some of which are local to my community and all of them linked from my LJ bio page.

Peace and good will to everyone.

Bruce
