Wow! It has been a while since I update my blog!
Nothing much going on... been crazy busy the last two months with work (think 65-75 hour week, 7 days a week for 2 months) but now that that's over, I'm having difficulty getting motivated.
I went to yaoicon over the weekend. Well, more like I visited San Francisco. I only attended Yamato Nase's session which was only on Saturday, and the rest of my trip was spent shopping and hanging out with friends. Sadly, ycon gets less and less appealing each year. I only go to meet up with my two friends, who unfortunately couldn't make it this year, and for the mangaka guests. I'm thinking of checking out the one in Arizona next year. That sounds more fun as that's for 21 and up. Yes for no teenage fangirls! Goodness me. I was on the BART with a fangirl and the way she fangirled in public made me so embarrassed. You don't say terms like "hot guys" and "buttsex" loudly in the public!
I enjoyed Yamato sensei's session alot. Someone I met from ycon last year actually made Kamiya chinko and Iwabuchi chinko plushies! She let sensei pick one to bring back to Japan and the other to be autographed lol. I have pictures of those plushies (they're damn cute! She dressed Kamiya to look like the one
here)... I'll post them if I'm not too lazy.
Sensei was so cute and energetic. She brought alot of her original copies of her prints etc. Some of the tidbits from the Q&A session:
~~ She started drawing bl since she was 14!! Talk about being corrupted lol
~~ Haha her fave series is Chintsubu, which she said was a desperate attempt when the deadline drew close and she didn't have anything to submit. Her fave chara is obviously Kamiya chinko.
~~ Not sure if those of you who follows her work but her recent art has moved from the shota looking ukes to the more adult looking ones. She said the reason for that is it's a challenge to herself. She'll most likely still do the shota-ish work at the same time to cater to the different tastes XD. My guess is now that her artstyle is moving away from the shota-ish uke, her newer works will get picked up in the US like Kuchibiru no yukue. That was a fast one since the Japanese manga just got released early this year and the English version will actually be released here in Nov!
~~ She's friends with Nitta Youka and two other senseis (I'm bad with names. I do know those other mangakas. I just don't remember the names ^^;;)
She was quite excited when I got her to sign my Chintsubu puchi DJ. I had the first edition Puchi and she was gushing about how she put the little bee stickers by hand lol. It's unfortunate that she could only stay for a day. I need more autograph sessions!!
