Toby (who is a female - I didn't name her) will be 9 yrs old in February. Back story: Toby belonged to a woman that my mom worked with and she thought her newborn was allergic to Toby so we fostered Toby for a couple of months and then they took her back. About six months later we got a call from the lady and she said her and her boyfriend had went separate ways and asked if we would be interested in adopting Toby. I of course had become attached and said yes. Toby's been with us for 5 years now.
Whew, I've already rambled enough. But alas I still have more pets! Along with the cats I currently have five guppies (three males, two females), three corydoras, and one tetra that I adopted from my dad when he got rid of his aquarium.
06) Aw! *wipes away tear* Thank you so much, that means a lot. *hugs*

General upkeep for cats isn't too expensive (food, litter, yearly vet visit and shots- my cats have to get rabies shots every three years). But veterinary costs are quite expensive now a days. If emergencies come up, you can be talking big bills for vet care. And if you get a kitten there is quite a bit of vet cost at first, as you need to have to get it shots and either spayed or neutered. Overall you do end up spending quite an amount over the life of your cat. I read somewhere that here in America, we spends thousands annually on our pets.
Cats are really easy to care for compared to dogs. Dogs are much more a "social" & "pack" animal. Dogs love being around their owners all the time and they aim to please. Cats are more solitary, but can be just as affectionate and loving as dogs, and they love to spend time with you as well (my kitties always sleep on my bed with me, or curl up in my lap). Cats use litter boxes and don't need to be taken out various times a day vs. dogs, and you don't have to take them for walks and such. I've had dogs before and I'll admit at times I sometimes miss having a dog, but overall I really prefer cats. They just really fit into my life and schedule better, and I personally think they are just as good as dogs (though of course they both have their differences).
