Sonic paid close attention to the gym teacher as he explained the rules, and when the whistle blew, he ran out and was one of the first to grab a dodgeball. He grinned as he tossed the ball up and down and looked over the two teams on the field, all the while dodging balls thrown at him easily with his own incredible speed.

On his side was Allen (girly boy on the first day), then Shaoran (adorable ki-) ooh... that had to hurt. Anyway, then there was Zuko (scar man), Cronos (guy who was way gayer than him), and most importantly, Raphael (turtle thing). Raph was the only one he really recognized, even though they all played several games together and pretty much knew each other already.

On the other side there was Knux (why was he against HIM, anyway?), Leonardo (other turtle thing, the one that kicked him in the face that one time!), Axl (for that matter, why was he against HIM? He was a friend!), Yuffie (ninja girl, a lot like Leo and Raph, only she liked his hair), Takuya (Digiman kid), and again, most importantly, Shadow. Heh heh, Shadow would DIE here. The faker looked EVEN MORE emo than usual, and so, of course, that was Sonic's chance.

Getting into a suitable postion, he threw the dodgeball at the brooding teenager, hoping to give him the humiliation of being tagged out after Shaoran.

This was ridiculous. Why was he here instead of at the hospital where Maria needed him? Whatever the case, he would play their stupid games and then get back to where he had to be as quickly as possible.

Looking at his teammates (and not quite thinking much of them), he easily dodged a few of the balls tossed his way, picking them up and whipping them in the direction of the other team. The whole action made him feel that this activity was incredibly useless.

He caught a glimpse of Sonic out of the corner of his eye and suppressed the smirk trying to cross his lips. If there was anyone who he could take out his frustration on easily, it was that blue hedgehog. Completely obvious from his motions, Shadow dodged the ball then chased after it, grabbing it and tossing it up a couple of times in hand.

"You think you're so good, don't you faker? Maybe it's time I showed you your place." And with that, he violently threw the ball in Sonic's direction.

"Heh!" Sonic smirked at that and jumped to the side, bending down and picking up a ball as soon as he dodged the one hurtling towards him. So, Shadow was paying attention after all! Sonic thought he was thinking about his "girlfriend" again.

With that same cocky smirk, he spun the ball around on the tip of his finger as he shouted his reply, "Who's the faker around here, huh? I'll make you eat those words!" With that, he threw the ball with just as much force that Shadow showed earlier, then immediately picked up a ball near his feet and threw it almost right after the first one.

It took some fancy footwork to avoid both of the balls thrown at him but he managed, kicking one that had recently rolled near his feet up to his hands. Sonic had guts, he had to give him that, but that was about as close to a compliment as he was going to get.

Deciding to up the ante, he tracked down two more balls and tossed one fairly low, another in the middle and the last one up high. Sure, Sonic might be able to dodge it but he was interested to see how.

Oh ho, Shadow was getting fancy now! With a small "hut!" sound, Sonic jumped to avoid the low ball, then spun around in the air to dodge the middle one, and then relied on gravity for the higher one. Luck was with him, and he laughed a little with victory as he landed in a kneeling position. He LOVED this game, and games of rivalry with Shadow were always fun, even if the other teen didn't think so.

"Nice try, Shads!" He taunted, and then decided to copy that move, only after he threw those three balls at different heights, he grabbed a fourth one and threw that one low again. Heh, let's see Shadow dodge that!

"Do you strive to be as obnoxious as possible?" Shadow grumbled as he heard what he deemed was a ridiculous nickname that made no sense to him. However, the four balls thrown at him didn't give him much time to think further on this and he once again managed to narrowly miss each of them, landing on bended knee afterwards.

He slowly stood up straight and brushed his hands off, going around and dodging as many of the balls as possible while picking them up. By the time he returned to face off against Sonic again, he had six of them in his arms, which was as many as he could possibly carry.

"Dodge this, faker!" he shouted as he rapid-fired each of them in turn at the human hedgehog, putting a little more extra muscle behind the last one.

Sonic had to admit, Shadow was fighting with more anger than other times. He seemed frustrated, really. Maybe worried. Well, who better to help out with those frustrations than Sonic himself? He did consider Shadow a friend, after all, though he would never admit that.

"Whoa!" He exclaimed as he narrowly dodged the balls, bending his back and ducking and jumping amongst other things. At the sixth ball, he could feel the wind of the ball pass by his hair as he barely dodged it. Yeah, Shadow was good, but Sonic was better.

It was with that thought that he brought one of the balls up his leg with a slight kicking maneuver, and then tossed it up in the air with his foot, soon following after it and kicking it hard towards the other teen, letting the grin on his face show just how much he was enjoying this. He wasn't sure if kicking the ball counted, so to fix that, Sonic ran along the side of the line, grabbing whatever balls he came across and throwing them forcefully at Shadow.

Well, that was an interesting way to dodge them. It wasn't what he was aiming for, however. All he wanted was to get this over with so he could get back to where he was needed rather than playing childish games.

He nonchalantly dodged the kicked ball by sliding off to one side and started running along with Sonic, smirking when he nearly got too far ahead of him at one point. Amused as he was, he decided that it was best to have a good offence right now. Kicking up a few of the balls, he tossed them one by one in Sonic's general direction, some of them far more forceful than they really had to be. By the time he ran out, he'd thrown nearly eight at his blue-haired rival.

Sonic was surprised that the students between the two of them managed to dodge all the balls thrown, for he himself had nearly thrown eight of them at Shadow as well. The ones Shadow threw were dodged easily enough, though his only mistake was that he was focusing on his rival and him only.

"Give up?" Sonic asked, placing his hands on his hips and leaning forward to grin at Shadow. But it was right then that he felt something soft yet forceful hit his thigh with a "thump!", and he looked down to find, to his horror, that he'd been hit by a ball. Oh, he only hoped that the teacher didn't notice that- AUGH. There went the whistle, and Mr. Jones was waving his hand in an "You're out!" motion.

At first, Sonic threw his arms out and gave the teacher an expression as if silently going "Aw, C'MON!", but then he dropped his arms to his side and rolled his eyes as he trudged towards the wall, not even noticing the fate of his rival.

Incredibly amused at the fact that Sonic had gotten knocked out by not paying attention, Shadow had let his own judgement lapse. Turning to find another ball and yet another opponent, he felt the whack of an errant ball on the back of his head and the whistle signalling a hit.

Quickly, he turned to see who threw it but everyone was still wrapped up in their own games that he simply growled and moved toward the wall but making sure to stay far away from Sonic. He needed his own time to think and knew he couldn't leave until school was officially over.

'Childish games,' he thought to himself with a snort as he leaned against the wall and closed his eyes. At least he didn't have to get involved further.
