(no subject)
so let me start off with the most important part of the update...
my grandmother is in the hospital. we had to rush her to the emergency room on wednesday night (7/9). she fell on the 5th of july and then the next day the house starting smelling. in a nut shell...she fell and didn't tell anyone...even when we all smelled the odor she kept insisting she was fine. it turns out that she fell so bad and let it go so long without getting it checked out, that she developed gangrene in her left buttock and thigh. she had to have 3 operations to get it all out and 1 more for a temporary colostomy. that is not pleasant. we've gone to see her everyday and she is all hooked up to machines. it's weird seeing her like that. she hasn't been to see the doctor in 22 years...literally. last time she went, my mother was pregnant with me. it was 1986 for a hysterectomy.
i never really thought of her as an old lady...but she certainly looks like one in ICU. she is at merrimack valley but they are talking about moving her to mass general. that's not good because they will put her in a hyperbarrack chamber where she can't have any access to visitors because they will bring in germs. she will be in a pressurized, sterile room all by herself. she's going to hate that if she has to go there. plus we wouldn't be able to visit everyday because boston is far.
anywho...in some uplifting news.
i saw katy, susan, and jackie for the 4th of july. we went to boston on the esplanade to see the fireworks. we got drunk off of homemade cape codders and annoyed everyone around us...awesome. it was such a good night. afterwards, we walked in search of a bar (susan was drunk!) but we never found one and then ended up in boston common. that was fucking far. so we had to cut through the common to get to the nearest T station. it was a good night. lots of pictures to come.
also, on friday night i am going to see melissa etheridge again...i think. it all depends on how my grandmother is doing. my mom is going to be a wreck if she isn't doing well so i don't know if she is going to go.
