I'm sorry, but I really don't care.

I am becoming increasingly irked by the media's focus on endorsements - in particular, endorsements by pop-culture icons. Excuse me, I'm sorry, but I don't give a rat's-ass if Oprah endorsed Obama. Am I supposed to be swayed to vote for Obama, because Oprah says she will? Aren't we all supposed to vote for whoever we want? That goes for you too, Kennedy Clan. I don't fucking care if you want to endorse Obama. Or if Chuck Norris is behind Huckabee.

Don't get me wrong, I find it interesting that Chuck Norris endorsed Huckabee. It's interesting as to who Oprah, the Kennedy's, AnnfuckingCoulter, etc. endorsed. But it's interesting only insomuch as I also find it interesting who my mom will vote for. I think these endorsements are notable -but that's it. I'm not going to vote for whoever Stephen Colbert might endorse. If the Beatles somehow came together on my doorstep - living and dead - to tell me that they are endorsing Obama, it wouldn't change my mind. My heart might skip, my speech might falter, but I would simply note that endorsement then move on to asking how George and John defeated death and insist that they come in and have some tea.

As I read blurb after blurb about Super Tuesday, I keep coming across a line about "Clinton struggling against Obama's star-power" or "the Kennedys" or endorsements this, endorsements that. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT. The more the media focus on this, the more the American public will *think* that it matters. Whereas really, Oprah's vote should be just that - one person's vote.
