Do we choose our friends on the basis of the admirable qualities they possess that we don't have? Or is it more that we choose them because we see characteristics in them that we value in ourselves?
What makes us give over and over to people, or not give at all? When we have high expectations of others, do we have those same expectations of ourselves? When people continually disappoint, is it better to find a new set of friends, or to lower your potentially lofty standards?
What equates to "true" friendship? Is it someone you know you can come to when you have a problem? Is it reciprocity? Is it less streamlined than one blanket statement, and instead depends on personal values again? What is/are the deal-breaker(s) in friendship? When and if do you abandon an old tie?
