When something that another person does TICKS YOU OFF, imagine a scenario where you do something very, very similar to that person. Then describe this scenario to said person. Should s/he stop you by getting caught up in the details, insist that his/her complaint about specificity is "not the point" and drive home the hypothetical situation. Stick to your guns about why his/her actions hurt/offended you.
If s/he does not see the issue in his/her behavior, s/he is one of the following:
A) a dick
B) a possessor of a different viewpoint, which makes things slightly more palatable but does not necessarily preclude (A)
C) careless.
If s/he does see the problem, then continue to discuss the conflict and draw it to a close with a hug if possible.
