WHOOOPS i just realized it's august 30th and I haven't been a good citizen by wishing Sg a happy birthday hahaa. Very belated post =/ Anyway my cousins are ultra-lucky people who won 8 tickets for the NDP on the actual day!!
So trooped down to Marina Bay decked in red/white on 9th Aug! Leiya's first NDP! She didn't understand what the event was about though haha, just excited because everyone else seemed so excited and cheerful. Too bad the seats were split though =/
Directed to the furthest seats because we were slightly late, view was still good though! Anyway it didn't matter much, most important was that I had two adorable people beside me =]=]
Kids and their infectious joy and enthusiasm =]
Love this picture that weihong took! Leiya was trying to spot helicopters and I was pointing at one of them haha. Her english vocab is astounding! The same can't be said for her chinese though, I don't think I've heard her speak Chinese before haha
Best part? The fireworks of course!! Ok the MRT song was very amusing I've gotta say. But to be honest, big and grand celebrations like this don't do much for me. I don't need a special day to love Singapore; it's in the everyday things. My family, friends, weihong, inspiring teachers, nice strangers, friendly taxi drivers and bus uncles, random acts of kindness, knowing that we are safe... Despite the occasional grouches, Singapore is still a beautiful place because of all the little things, Singapore is my one and only home <3
Oh and we were approached by 2 random strangers - 1 tourist, and 1 local, who genuinely wanted to purchase the NDP bags!! Of course we didn't sell it, but we did give them some of the souvenirs inside =] the local was a teacher who wanted the books for her students and kids so of course we gladly complied! The former wanted the singapore flag and was so thrilled when we gave it to her! Awesome feeling when you know you made someone's day =] great end to the NDP!
