Last week I was all set to Solo at home while John went back to work. Made it through Monday but come Tuesday afternoon: fever hit. Wednesday: fever and diarrhea. Thursday: fever and diarrhea. Friday morning: fever broke, still diarrhea, fainting and no blood pressure while standing, blacking out. Ambulance ride to the hospital for two IV units of saline with anti-nausea, anti-diarrheal meds, a dose of potassium and some Dilaudid.
I LOVE THAT STUFF, I mean the Dilaudid. Excerpt from www.drugs.com on Dilaudid: "can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions." NO shit. Happy happy happy and very comfy for the first time in days!
Enjoy this conversation between the Admit Nurse, Me and John:
Nurse, "when was the last time you vomited?"
Me, "I can't vomit, I have a gastric bypass."
Nurse, "So you didn't vomit today? When did you last vomit?"
Me, "No vomit. I don't have a stomach. But I have been nauseated for three days."
Nurse, "Let me listen to you stomach. No stomach sounds."
John, who has been standing by chewing on his lips this whole time, "She doesn't have a stomach."
Nurse, writing on clipboard, "no stomach. So you didn't vomit today?"
Saturday was able to drink liquids and Sunday I was able to actually eat soft stuff. Today, doing much better just really tired.
