To be honest, I think the Luthor thing is the best villain arc they’ve got going on the show this season. But the problem with saying that is that its competing with all these other villain arcs that have just fallen flat as a pancake, most especially the Darkseid stuff. And I really fear for how they are going to connect those 2 arcs.

Like you, Connor just feels terribly unnecessary to me. And also like you, I thought a lot of this episode felt like we were re-treading familiar ground. I am not a huge fan of a show repeating patterns. To me, it represents a lack of originality more then anything else. And taking huge parts of previous (and better!) episodes and incorporating them into a new episode seems to be the height of laziness.

I do think seeing Clark in mentor role is a very positive thing for his character. But we’ve seen it, a lot! I’m not sure we learned anything new about Clark here, except for a little more insight into his feelings about growing up different. Which, don’t get me wrong, I appreciated a whole lot.

My impression at the end of the episode was that Connor was going to live with Clark and Lois, and I’m sorry, but that’s a big NO! I hope I read that wrong, and he’s going back to Tess. Because Tess as caretaker really makes the most sense. Clark can still play a mentor role.

I loved Tess in this episode, but I feel like I say that for every episode she’s in. I can’t believe how much I’ve grown to love this character. And CF never seems to step a foot wrong for me.

The comparison between this episode, and last weeks, is like night and day. This week, I felt like all the actors were excellent and I felt like they had a decent script. And frankly, I found the initial Clark/Tess scene to be more amusing then anything I watched last week.

They do seem to be heading that way, whatwith the final scene and all, but I'm not exactly sure how they'll go about it. With Lex' return, there is of course a great storyline they could do, regarding Darkseid, but I'm assuming MR is only returning for the finale? So in that case, again, not really sure how much time they'll really have to string together any coherent thread combining the two storylines.

The whole 'Exile' thing was especially such a pale, pale comparison that it only made me want to go back and watch the older ep again.

Now that I've read yours and others comments, I'm not sure why I was the only one to whom it never occured that Connor would continue staying on with Clark and Lois. I suppose I just couldn't imagine how Clark in his right mind, would expect that, or Lois in her right mind would agree to it, honestly. I just automatically assumed he'd be on his way to Tess now. But you're probably right, since there was no confirmation either way, and if anything the signing of the school form does seem to suggest a closer bond with Clark. But really, how can the ep not have given us a Clois scene discussing his stay then? It's criminal, considering the ordeal Lois went through at Connor' hands.
