I’m not sure how much more I can say about Collateral. Between the comments on my own journal, and discussing it on twitter, or K-Site, I feel worn out and disillusioned by this episode. It was so terrible in so many ways.
Now, Beacon was lots better, though I think the episodes shortcomings were also very evident.
I think Beacon is already lots better just for having AOT and JG in it, and having Tess back in the story. All of them were superb in this episode, as was Lucas Grabeel as Alexander. I always think really strong performances elevate an episode, and I have to give these 4 actors some major props. Tom, Erica and Justin were also solid. Allison? Well, lets just say I’m not entirely sure what she’s going for.
Glover did have great lines in this ep, didn’t he? I was really fond of of “You shot Martha Kent? Why would you do that, she seems like a perfectly lovely woman.” LMAO Just the way Glover said it was terrific.
Honestly, I think the Luthor stuff was the strongest element of this episode.
I think part of the reason I wasn’t much satisfied with the VRA resolution was because I thought it was such a coddled together mess of a storyline to begin with. It seems to have risen in Offscreensville, then it was never quite clear if this was the actions of an overly paranoid government, or was it Darkseid’s influence. Were the VRA agents rogue, working outside of the law, or were they government sanctioned? Again, I think it comes down to the show trying to do too many storylines, and not doing any of them particular justice.
Clark did have some nice moments in this episode, but I also found his Debby Downer attitude towards the vote to be a bit contrived. Its like they put it there so Lois could be the contrast , the optimist having faith in the people. Which is all well and good, but really, I think that should be Clark.

Heh - can't believe I forgot that one! JG just seemed as if he was having so much ::fun:: with the role this ep - loved it.

Oh, absolutely. Way, way too many storylines going on this season, almost all half baked. Just shows TPTB's lack of focus, or perhaps misguided focus in the last season.

Exactly. And it's not like the saccharinely sweet cheerleader is particularly favorable to Lois either. So really, what are the writers thinking here?!
