Yay! After a one week seperation, we go back to sharing a brain. I feel so relieved.
Like you, I found this episode so enjoyable, and exactly for the reasons you mentioned. And none so important as the illumination into Clark's thoughts and feelings that has been missing for too long. There were so many great lines from him.
And the scene that really stands over all the others is his scene with Alec in the loft. It was a great Superman moment, and I love when the show can get one of those moments right. Tom was superb in the scene, as was the child actor, and AM filmed it, and framed it, perfectly. Its probably one of my favorite scenes of S9 so far.
I admit that I enjoy hot women hitting on Clark, because DUH! Why wouldn't they? Zatanna also feels like a work in progress to me, and I thought her characterization was very consistent from Hex. She's a bit morally grey around the edges, so I really think her actions towards Clark felt organic.
The last Lois and Clark scene is actually one of my favorites of the season. It felt very real, and both characters were endearing. Their doubts and insecurities feel understandable to me.
I also think this ep should've been before Disciple. It was originally slated there, and it would've made a lot more sense placed there. My biggest negative with this ep is that it did feel a bit out of whack, continuity-wise.

::nods:: It's just quintissential Supes, right there.

Exactly. The ep not only did their relationship justice but also them, as individuals.
