I think Lois is still in the basement because Tess hates her. That's how I'm fanwanking it LOL!
As for the anvils, I admit I liked it, but I also think it could POTENTIALLY have been a way to work the Blur/Lois stuff back into the story (since that seems to have been put on the backburner now).
Not a spoiler, but I could see, if Clark starts contacting her as the Blur again, that that could come up. I don't think Lois knew Dr. Fate was referring to the Blur (she certainly didn't know it was Clark), but what if he started contacting her again and she remembered that little 'prediction'? It could make things interesting, not as a traditional triangle (because Lois loves Clark, and that fate line SHE had showed that - she didn't care what Fate said, she chose Clark, she would make her own fate), but as a complication, since she doesn't know Clark and the Blur are one and the same.
And I guess I also didn't mind it because Lois missed the other Johns' ep and was kinda glossed over in Legion that it was nice to see her future role (and even present role) in Clark's life brought up.
My personal opinion is that the triangle-for-two concept doesn't really work for our SV!Clois, so in that sense, I'm hoping it isn't really an angle that's reintroduced anytime soon again.
