My brother has a small issue, if anyone can help with any advice, that would be great.

"A Majour Delema
I know that right now isn't the best time to be thinking about this (i.e. when I'm half way done with my degree) but I'm wondering if Aeronautical engineering is really right for me. I like the mechanical part of my degree, but the aero part leads me down roads I don't want to travel. Here's a little anecdote:
I was in the mech/aero computer lab and some guys I know were watching a video of people testing a shoulder rocket launcher, firing at a tank about a mile off. They were hooting and hollering about how cool it was but all the while I was just thinking about what would happen when this wasn't a test and there were people dying in the tank. Then they switched to a video of an actual US soldier in Iraq using that shoulder rocket launcher. It showed him fire it, then a massive explosion in the distance, followed by more hooting and hollering from around me. I said "that's sad... there are people dying in that video..." The response was "Man, you're in the wrong major if you have that attitude. You gotta hail Bush and his defence spending because that's where your job will come from."
But what if I don't want to hail Bush? What if I hate the military, hate war, hate death caused by it? Can I still be an aero major and feel this way? I'm in it so I can go into space research, so I can increase the breadth of human knowledge. But doesn't it just put me in a funnel to one type of job--one ultimately funded by the military? And can't I serve humanity better and more peacefully in some other way?
So if I don't want to go into the aero field anymore, why should I stick with the aero part of my major? Why not just do mechanical? Because by taking an extra four classes, I can get the dual major, which looks impressive and give me more knowledge for when I get out into the real world. But by taking those four classes, it seems to add a huge "WARMONGER" label to my resume and it will attract the attention of the wrong kind of employer.
Maybe I'm blowing the whole thing out of proportion, but either way, I could really use some help on this one."
I am so very proud of my brother, for all he has achieved, and I am so proud of him for his morals too. I know a lot of people would just take the highes paying job, and not think about the consiquences.
