Remember War Games from the 80's? It was a movie, starring 80's icons Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy, about giving computers enough power to conceivably cause nuclear war. This was at the height of the cold war, so people really got in to it.
Before last night, I think I had only seen it once. Much like the original Tron, it's so dated that it's quite a hoot. My favorite parts were:
- Seeing old-school modems like the ones some of us had growing up. (Place the headset in a cradle with holes for the earpiece and mouthpiece.)
- Ally Sheedy wearing leg-warmers.
- Radio Controlled Pterodactyl!!!
- Footage of an old arcade, like the ones we used to go to.
- Green-screen computer footage.
- Radio Controlled Pterodactyl!!!
- The military commander chewing tobacco throughout the movie and having gums to match.
- Radio Controlled Pterodactyl!!!
In Unrelated News:
OMG, I want a Radio-controlled Pterodactyl.
