Lots of things have happened.

I went to Dallas to move Sarah in on Tuesday/Wednesday. It was very busy; we spent ages carrying things up to her room on the third floor. Only one of her roommates (not really...more apartmentmates) was there. She's from near the university, as are the other 2 that haven't moved in yet (only people going to 'Comet Camp' got to move in then- everyone else moves in tomorrow). It was...odd...knowing that she's moved out and not going to be coming down here much. I don't think I've really realised that yet; I still feel like she'll be coming home soon. She's just out at work...the park...eating out.

It sounds like I'm talking about a dead person.

Anyway, it was fun to stay in the hotel, which is what I was looking forward to all summer. I love hotels. I don't know if it's just happy memories from vacations or me having a 'Jaye' moment and revelling in impermanence, but I love everything about hotels, from the smell to the fold out couches to the cable television to the miniature bottles of shampoo they give you (we got Bath & Bodyworks stuff at our hotel...Bradford Homesuites is the best. place. evar.) Wednesday was spent assembling chairs and bookshelves and drawers and going shopping. Just like what we did on Tuesday. But hey, I'm not complaining. Anything that takes me out of Round Rock is fine by me. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night, and left at 7:30 Wednesday evening. We got back about midnight last night...too late for band (oh no!) but also too late to pick up my puppies from the kennel (actual oh no!).

Soooo, today I picked them up first thing in the morning (alright, about 10:00, but that's early enough for me). Then I went down to the practice field at about 1:00, by which time it had already reached 100 degrees outside, to learn the end of the opener. I felt like such a loser band nerd, especially because the administrators kept pulling in onto the field while I was out there. I only stayed maybe 10 or 15 minutes, it being too hot to do anything really. My stupid practice didn't even help much, because at evening practice today, I kept forgetting where I was supposed to go and missing my sets. Luckily, everyone was really helpful and nice and showed me where my sets were. Well, everyone except Stein, who of course glared at me and shot something along the lines of 'Jacki, better heels. Jacki, you're not going far enough' at me. Which might have just been his way of being helpful, but I'm trying to complain right now, so we'll ignore that.

Tonight was 'Parent Night' for the band, so we got to perform in front of people for the first time. I just had to remind myself that not even the obsessive, super-band-nerdy parents could tell when we're messing up at this point. On the bright side, we got to leave a bit early, and I found out that we don't have band tomorrow due to the band picnic at 6 pm. Hahahahahahaha I am not going. Then the March-a-thon is on Saturday, but I'm not sure if I'll go. I probably should to get on Stein's good...er...better side, but it's at 7 in the morning! Honestly! And the weekend before school starts, too!

Which reminds me...School starts on Monday. Gah. That isn't good. It does mean, though, that I get my driver's license! Hopefully tomorrow I'll go down to get it. Then I can drive my car (woooow) to school! Good stuff.

God, I love communicating...

P.S. This is the eighth entry in a row where I have mentioned band. What the hell?

P.P.S. Oh yeah. I forgot for a fleeting instant that band consumes my entire life. Silly me, desperately holding on to a dream that I might manage to not be a complete band nerd for once.
