I can't find myself in the head of this stranger in love

A few months ago I got into a disscussion with marilynd at the main Bebop community regarding Julia. She asked me why I liked the character so much and I went on to explain. One thing led to another and marilynd was kind enough to post my meandering commentary up on her lovely site.

Thank you. :P I enjoy reading them myself, because I think you earn a broader understanding on a subject when you can ponder someone elses's perspective. Unfortunately, I haven't come across too many analyses of Julia's character.

Oh, definitely. I know there's quite a few instances where someone's well-reasoned musings has completely changed how I view a character. Quite possibly my favorite page on Cowboy Bebop - mainly because it's *all* analysis; it's fantastic - is Last Train Home. Especially the section entitled When She Drives; it's a fascinating discussion of the characters of Spike, Julia and Vicious, and how they all affected each other.

I highly recommend it. :) That reminds me, it's about time I posted that link in the main Bebop community....

Truthful points you stated.

I think Julia is a character so many people are ready to brush off or take at face value, plus unless you pay attention or try to understand, it is hard to try and dissect her and her relationship with Spike and Vicious in the show since it really just drops hints here and there about it.

Sadly, I have to agree with that. I think she's generally written off as not very important when she's actually one of the driving forces behind the story. Her appearances, though few and far between, are part of a bigger picture and worth paying attention too. That being said, I think she's a character whose self and motivations are worth trying to better understand.

Granted we aren't given much to work with, but there's enough for a general idea.

That is very intriguing, thank you so much for posting that!
Gave me a different perspective.
I simply thought of her whole running away thing as her love being so strong for Spike, she left to help him live, rather she'd die running away or not.
But that helped give me thoughts on why she never got in contact with him. Before...I thought it was just hard to do so; him being a bounty hunter, her running around.

And I found that wallpaper recently and flipped when I saw it.
A wallpaper dedicated to my favorite scene. Wow. :D
