Dear Masha,
I know you are currently awaiting replies form many internships all around the world. And we both know how I feel about that : )
But we also both know how it will turn out if you get one. You will go off to Germany do amazing research. Meet a handsome prince (because they have stuff like that over there). Get unbelievable letters of recommendation. Get into any grad school you want. Become rich and famous and save the world and win a noble prize and marry that fabulous prince in a gorgeous white dress in an utterly beautiful Russian Orthodox Church. But what if you don't get in
Well you will get to come home to Eugene. Which will be fantastic! But you will probably not have enough money to fly home. So to get to Eugene you will probably have to book passage on a leaky vessel such as this one and travel by sea
But you know the world these days. Even the seas are a dangerous place. So before you even get half way there your ship will be attacked by PIRATES!!!!
And all the passengers will be made pirate slaves. At this point things will not be looking bright for you and you might really be wishing that you had been accepted into that science research program. But it will not take long before unrest will grow umongst the pirates and trouble will arise and they will be impressed with your quick thinking and brave actions. Pretty soon there will be a revolution and you will be instated as the pirate Queen.
You will be a marvolous queen and look something like this.
Things will go very well for your clan once you are in charge. You will find a hidden map that everyone thought was only the stuff of ledgand
By way of many daring adventures you will track down the treasure and the voyage will be well worth its trouble.
You and all of your pirate mates will be so rich you will decided to quit your seafaring life and find the friends and family you left behind and settle into an early retirement.
So you will buy yourself a house
and of course you will have to get a summer cottage as well
But you won't forget about all your dear friends and you will buy up the surrounding land to build a village for your friends to live in
Something simple for most of the year
And something simply dreamy for the summers
We will all be so happy. You will paint and play soccer. Ashely will perform one women ballets and teach ballet lessons to all the little children and occasionally travel to london to guest star in all sorts of performances. Andy will write the town news paper as well as cover all the most important international games for a fancy sports news paper (where he will also make sure that the Ems get the international acclaim they deserve). Tim will study the birds and write books about his learnings and work to create a special habitat for the rare Coco Lettus Red Feather Wooden Duck. Catlin will conduct crazy psyc research in her own personal labratory where everyone is requried to wear pajama pants to work. Marc will write music for easy listening CDs. Just kidding, I should think of something nice... Marc will play Beethoven, compose beautiful music of his own and travel every now and then to conduct all the best orchestras in the world. Betsy will teach all the children in our town and turn them all into happy little geniusis (no easy feat) she will also write a book that is even better and more famous then Harry Potter called "Your World May Be Round". And me, oh I will be there too with a house full of psyco, hillarious, and beautiful kids who find happiness at last with a mum as crazy as they are.
And we will all be living so happily that you will think there is nothing else you could ever want. And then.... HE will walk into your life
The two of you will be madly in love and after a suitable interval you will be married. And my little girl will be your flower girl
And after a few years you will have some little girls of your own (sorry if you wanted boys- but though cute at first we both know it is girls cuteness that lasts)
And when you look into their eyes you will be so utterly happy with your happily ever after that you will never ever regret not going to Germany.
Of course you still might go and that will work out too.
