On Thursday when I arrived at Dieu Giac I could hear Tar saying "Lauren! Lauren! Lauren!" And when I went over to say hello he said "Baby Tun.." and then did a sleeping action. On Thursday Austin didn't come in but Cieran did, and one of the older boys, Vinh, from the Boys Orphanage came along too. Tar kept asking Vinh to ask Cieran to ask me if I could remember his name! On Friday Austin came in, which I was glad about because while he was away the kids would ask me when he'd be back and I'd say Thursday. On Wednesday they asked me and so I said "Tomorrow", but on Thursday I had to tell them "Tomorrow" as well. On Friday I was greeted by Tar in the same way, except the sleeping motion was replaced by pointing towards the little boys dorm, meaning Baby Tun was awake. When I went in to say hello to Baby Tun, the woman who looks after him tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at me, and then lifted him up and gave him to me. I like this little routine.
Later on, one of the women was holding Tun, but he started crying so she handed him to me, and so he stopped crying :)
I did some drawing with some of the boys, and Austin did drawing with some of the girls. It's funny how at the beginning I was ignored by the boys and Austin ignored by the girls, but now has been a complete turn around! Fu has been doing less drawing recently which is a shame. Teen was very keen though and took my arm and motioned drawing and pointed to the classroom that we usually use.
After the kids had lost interest in drawing, and Baby Tun had gone off with one of the old boys (who is really lovely with him), one of the women handed me the smallest baby, who is really chubby! Little Ahnan beckoned me over towards her and put out her hands to hold him, so I sat down on the floor with her and tried to get her to be gentle with him. She put her hands over his eyes and shortly after that he fell asleep.
I've been staying later each day, until aropund 5pm. So I'm there when the older kids eat at 4:30, and the little ones, who have already eaten, roam the courtyard.
