Good Day

A really good day today...

My class at Ga Sai Gon had a present for me! It was two little ceramic turtles, one green one brown. They float on water so the youngest went to get a bowl of water to show me, and then a little later on one of the women who work/live there brought a bigger bowl and had picked flowers and leaves to float in there - it looked really pretty (shame I didn't have my camera).

And then the lesson seemed to go really well. There was a local university student (whose name I have already forgotten) who was there to help out, so that was good. Part way through Rose arrived and took the youngest (whose name I can never remember) to teach her seperatly. This was probably a good thing because she is not nearly as advanced as the others. We then did 'What do you do in your spare time?' which proved to be popular. Vinh (who is the 17 year old boy who recently joined) is very useful in the class because he is more ahead than the two Nu's so he can help explain things to them. And ist was also very useful having the uni student there as her English was very good.

Unfourtunatly Tien was really late picking me up, and though I told my class that I didn't mind then joining the rest of the kids to eat, they sat with me until he arrived. And the woman who works there opened a pack of crisps for us to share, but they all insisted I eat them all!

This afternoon I was at Dieu Giac with Austin. We have decided just to do drawing with the kids in one of the classrooms. As soon as Fu saw me he grinned and motioned to go upstairs (to the classroom) to draw. I went into the little girls dorm to get a few more kids together, and one of the little girls who used to always cry when she saw me, came and held onto both of my hands, and then came upstairs with us! i was gobsmacked! It was very nice walking up the stairs because I had a girl holding each hand and a couple more following behind :)

I found out that little miss formerly-terrified-of-me's name is Ahn. Ahn was soon sitting on my lap, and gesturing for me to carry her, and grinning at me, and actually ended up spending the whole afternoon with me! So we had just a small class of drawers. It was nice for the most part. But there were the usual fights, and a few kids were nagging me for my camera. Anyway it all ended a bit sourly with one kid trying to steal some flashcards, us getting the flashcards back, and then all the kids yelling at us in vietnamese!!
