Whole lotta nuthin'

Maybe it's just me, but this week is just flying by.

Work was rather busy today, and included some anxious moments in trying to set-up a webcast for a bunch of University officials -- just some unexpected technical issues. Turns out the worry was for naught, and things went off pretty well. Rest of the day was spent dealing with those random things that always seem to crop up. Did set-up a phone meeting with a radio producer out in Chicago to hash out some ideas for improving our small sound facility on-site. One of these days I need to get in there and record some test pieces I can fool around with Sound Studio on my Mac. If I can put together some examples of how we can create our own NPR-style segments, than perhaps this is something I can sell the benefits of to my director.

Anyway...

Got out to Utrecht today to grab a new frame for my father's print. Nothing wrong with the one it was in, but it doesn't exactly go with the design aesthetic I'm trying to finish up for my apartment. Most of what I have up on the walls are in black, gallery-style frames, and I picked up another today. The matt in the frame is too big, so I have to order a new one, but it'll look nice when done.

Crazy, insane woman down the street wasn't arguing with her boyfriend today. Yesterday afternoon, it got so bad that people across the street were actually looking out their windows at the drama unfolding, as their argument carried out into the street. Seriously, this woman is a few Chicken McNuggetts short of a Happy Meal. I mean, I can understand a little bit of drama... but this woman's hanging on by a thread. Sounds like the guy's one of these meathead Italians that I see from time to time in this neighborhood, and he probably is the type to screw around on her... but does she have to wail and scream everything?

Anyway...

Found out Jimmy Buffett's playing the Tweeter Center again, but for the first time, not on Labor Day weekend, but in early-June? That's all kinds of wrong. Then again, I didn't exactly distinguish myself at the last concert I made back in 2001. Honest to God, I got so drunk that I only remember the first two songs and the last oncore... and that I watched about 3/4 of the show with my shorts around my ankles, just standing there in my boxers. For whatever reason, nobody gave me any shit... of course, I did manage to fall in a ditch exiting the show; not one of my finer moments.

Gonna meet up with a few friends tomorrow night to watch the Chicago vs. New England game. Weather's supposed to be awful, but it's an excuse to get out midweek. Won't be making the game against Chivas USA on Saturday though, as I'll be attending a dinner party with some co-workers. It's a shame that there will be plenty of interesting, attractive women... but all of them married; at least the food should be good.

Still waiting to receive my new digital camera. Decided to use the other gift certificate (from Overstock.com) on a bunch of recyclable batteries for it, as well as a pair of new black oxfords. My old shoes were falling appart (J-Crew merchandise... just sucks), so I picked up a nice pair of Doc Martens that should last me until, well... probably around 40. Also, finally after much searching, I came across a pair of frames that I like: a bunch of titanium ones by Perry Ellis. The price is pretty steep ($190 for the frames alone), but that's a good bit less that some others I've looked at, and most importantly, they're comfortable and look sharp. They do make me look like some odd combination of "preppy meets urban hip," but as long as I look good in them... and as long as I can see better with them (novel idea). Not sure I want to spend the $$$ to get them now, but maybe next month after two more pay periods. Total cost will probably come to about $280 - $300, but considering that I can't wear contacts, I'm willing to make the investment.

... sounds like the two blonds upstairs are heading out. They're certainly attractive, but have those rather bored/vapid personality types that turn me off in a hurry. Guess my landlord asked them about a shitload of beer cans and bottles he found on the roof recently -- something we're not supposed to access in the building -- and my guess they're partially to blame. Ah, Hell... I was their age once (probably about 22 or 23), and was probably thought to be annoying as well by those a bit older. Believe me, 32 can feel damn old at times, especially if you have an "old soul" (as some friends have described of me).

FInally, let me tell you how hot Lauren Graham is from Gilmore Girls:

All for now...
