Day 2 in London.
I just got back from Billy Elliot :DD It was adorable and high energy and had awesome dancing. The singing wasn't fantastic but that's not the point. My favourite was the sequence he did with his older self, who danced like a fairy prince wearing ballet tights. They got the little Billy on wires so they could do pretty, surreal tosses and throws. There were a lot of unexpected elements in it too, an awful lot of stuff about mining and protesting, cross-dressing boys, really thick accents and a glorious, awe-inspiring set -- Stairs emerge from it, toilets get pulled out from the sides, the floor descends and forms a mining pit etc. It was like they've got a whole Ikea showroom somehow compressed into the set. Most fascinating.
Went to Portobello market in the morning and had to exercise a lot of self-control to resist buying 2nd hand marvel comics (they didn't have marvel adventures or New Avengers anyway). Walked past Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College on my way to the Natural History Museum. What an excellent museum. So fun! So impressive! So accessible for all ages! Would probably go back again if I have time.
