Christmas 1992

Dear Mum and Dad,

I hope you like the books I bought you. It was a bit of effort finding somewhere I could buy them from by Owl post. I found them very interesting, and I can see all the magic working anyway. Maybe you could show them to Aunt Grace so she stops sending me the face cream and gloves. Unless that’s a joke, but I didn’t think she had a sense of humour like that.

Have a wonderful time with Aunt Grace, Catherine and Gram, and give them all my love. There aren’t many students still at school, because of the attacks. I think it will be a strange lunch. But the Great Hall looks fantastic. There are Christmas trees and decorations and the candles have never-melt-icicles on them. The food is always delicious, so make sure Gram doesn’t worry about my eating.

Thank you very much for the new scarf. I’m sure to get a lot of use out of it throwing snowballs at Ron and Harry. I notice that you didn’t send me another book, but I don’t mind because I’ve been doing a lot of extra reading for the project Harry, Ron and I are working on. The first stage is finished now, and we are running the first tests after lunch. If all goes well, we may have some very important information about the attacks on school. Don’t worry, because even if it goes wrong, nothing terrible can happen to us, but losing a few points.

Don’t think that I’m blasé about the points, it’s jus that they’re not as important as finding out what’s going on. I think that’s a very Gryffindor trait. Harry and Ron are looking at me again, I have to go.

Have a wonderful day,

Eat extra pudding for me.

Love,

mum and dad
