Really? How? Sorry for my stupidness. I just got a new MacBook Pro and I'm new to Photoshop. I've always used Windows and Paintshop Pro. D: haha
And now my Photoshop unexpectedly closed yesterday and I opened it today and now all the patterns I added, by following your instructions, have all disappeared! Now I only have 2 patterns showing up (the ones that come with PS). So, maybe if I can have PS remember the path to all the textures I have, like you've done, they will actually stay like they're supposed to! lol If it's not too much to ask, since I'm such a noob lol, can you walk me through it? I'd be very grateful. :)
Well, I don't remember if I indicated the path to my folders in PS settings. I think PS remembers the last visited path by itself. How I do it, I just create my folder for patterns (f.e. 'My Documents - PS - Patterns'), and they never disappear from there. When I open PS and choose Paint Bucket Tool, my own folder is always showing up.
Sometimes however PS opens its own folder, but then I just show the way to mine :)
Hmm I made the folders and put all the patterns in the right spot ... I named the folder Adobe Photoshop CS4 and then the one in that is named Patterns and that is where they're all located, but it still isn't showing up in PS.
All the patterns I have in the folder are .jpg and .png files though. I don't have any .pat files of my own. I had to follow your instructions in order for them to actually show in PS. What do you suggest I do?
While the files you store in pattern folders are not .pat, PS will not see them. How to make .pat files from images (png or jpg)? Read my tutorial once again starting from point 3.
When I follow your tutorial that makes the imagepacks show up in Photoshop, but nowhere else. So I do not actually have any .pat files of patterns (that I just "converted" from .jpg/.png into .pat) that I can obtain in any concrete folder outside the program. That's the problem.
Yes, the .pat files won't open in anything else but Photoshop. And you want them show up everywhere:)
It seems to me that you are a complete newbie when I read your comments. Maybe this tutorial is too complex for you. And maybe try from the very beginning from icon_tutorial basics?
