Its almost Teachers Day in Mongolia! During the month there are countless competitions between the six or so schools in the area. Teachers are dancing, singing, blowing fire, impersonating world figures. I made them teach their students some English songs (like Selena Gomez' "Naturally"). Somehow a lot more of this responsibility fell on the other Americans than I had intended.
It also snowed a lot, and got to be a sheet of slippery ice all along the main artery of the town. So yesterday as I was walking to the theater to see the Teacher's Carnival contest, nearly a hundred folks were out picking away at the ice with various implements, and piling the little icebergs around the trees lining the street.
Then it snowed again this morning. Not a ton, and hopefully a lot of it gets swept up quickly.
I had some ice on my stairs, but I found some road salt sitting around in my apartment (thanks Volunteers of years past!) and I got it all cleaned up. Then I fed stray dogs the stuff that had gone all wrong in my fridge.
I hoping for a boring week to come.
